The Real forward has racked up 10 goals in the six matches he’s played in January

Real Madrid is having a brilliant start to the year: no losses in any of the six La Liga and Copa del Rey games played and an impressive 20 goals so far. Cristiano Ronaldo has a lot to do with the squad’s positive numbers, having contributed to the side with his skills and above all his goals. The Portuguese player has racked up 10 goals to date, making him the top scorer of the big European leagues in 2013.

Premier League, FA Cup and Football League Cup matches have been disputed so far this year in England. Van Persie (Manchester United), Luis Suárez (Liverpool) and Dempsey (Tottenham) are the players who have scored the most goals with a total of five between all three competitions. In Italy, Argentine player Icardi (Sampdoria) has managed six goals between the Serie A and the Italian Cup and holds the country’s top-scorer position. He’s followed closely by Napoli’s Uruguayan player Edinson Cavani with five goals.

Matches in the French Ligue and Cup have also been disputed this month, with a number of players racking up three goals: Lavezzi (PSG), Jordan Ayew and Gignac (Olympique de Marseille) and Cvitanich and Eysseric (Nice). Only two clashes in the Bundesliga have been played in Germany so far this year, with Mandzukic (Bayern Munich) and Blaszczykowski (Borussia Dortmund) scoring a total of three goals each.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the player between Spain, England, Italy, Germany and France who has scored the most goals this year, with an impressive seven La Liga goals and three in the Copa del Rey. He’s closely followed by Messi (Barcelona), who between the two competitions has scored nine goals in 2013.
